Problems in the identity of "Crioceras" barremense Kilian, 1895 (Ancyloceratida, Late Barremian), and their proposed resolution

17 pages; The study of "Crioceras" barremense KILIAN was undertaken as a part of the revision of the Hemihoplitidae. This species was considered "classic" and has been used as the index of an Upper Barremian subzone; this usage raises a number of problems. The type specimen from Tyrol was a fragment described and illustrated by UHLIG as Crioceras sp. ind. aff. roemeri. This specimen could not be retrieved, and a topotype could not be collected. Chaenothecopsis schefflerae (Ascomycota: Mycocaliciales): a widespread fungus on semi-hardened exudates of endemic New Zealand Araliaceae

Ascomycetes specialised to live on hardened plant exudates occur worldwide, but the number of species so far described is relatively small (c.30). Particularly within the genus Chaenothecopsis (Ascomycota:Mycocaliciales), many species produce their ascomata on hardened but still relatively fresh outpourings of conifer resin or angiosperm exudate. Temperate rainforests of New Zealand provide habitat for several endemic Chaenothecopsis species, including Chaenothecopsis schefflerae, which was previously known from a single sample collected from the exudate of Schefflera digitata (Araliaceae) in the early 1980s. The beach flea Orchestia stephenseni was originally described by Cecchini (1928), and successively by Karaman (1973). The description of this species will be herein revised by focusing on the variation of the g nathopod 2 in males, as detected during its growth period. An analysis of DNA Barcoding was performed to support the assignment of the taxonomic species to five morphotypes. As the type specimen has not yet been designated, a neotype is assigned. The taxonomy ofOreosparte(Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae)

Oreosparte is a monotypic genus described as bearing strong similarities to Hoya (Marsdenieae), but separated from it based on the presence of a campanulate corolla with a contracted throat and lanceolate, spreading lobes. Its type specimen was destroyed during the fire at the Berlin herbarium in 1943. So far no suitable lectotype or further specimens belonging to the taxon were located. We report the finding of one specimen of Oreosparte collected from the type locality, allowing the selection of a neotype, to provide an extended description, and discussion of the morphological affinities with Hoya. The description of a new gavialid genus and species (Piscogavialis jugaliperforatus) from the Pisco Formation (Neogene) of the Sacaco Basin (southern Peru) is given. The Pisco Formation is well known for its high diversity of fossil vertebrates, but reptiles have not been described previously. The type specimen ofP. jugaliperforatus from the Pisco Formation is a well preserved complete skull of a large individual with an almost complete associated mandible and posteranial material.P. jugaliperforatus is referred to Gavialidae, primarily because of the presence of key characters in the occipital region.

Revision of the genus Filellum Hincks, 1868 (Lafoeidae, Leptothecata, Hydrozoa)

A taxonomic review of the cosmopolitan genus Filellum was performed considering morphology, morphometry and cnidome. Species for which we had access to materials were redescribed and morphologically characterized based on optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The materials examined belong to museum collections, including type specimens. All records found in the literature were checked. Our analyses confirmed the validity of 10 out of the 18 nominal species referred to the genus, and established four others (F. adnatum, F. bouvieri, F. contortum and F. plicatum) as species inquirenda. Daldinia macaronesica (from the Canary Islands and Madeira), D. palmensis (from the Canary Islands), D. martinii and D. raimundi (from Sicily), and D. vanderguchtiae (from Jersey, Channel Islands) spp. nov., are described, based on new combinations of teleomorphic and anamorphic characters.
